All the talk around the ‘new’ Syclone got me thinking - why doesn’t GM really make one? Turbo, not supercharged. They have the TT V6 from the ATS-V, imagine if they put that in the GMC Canyon with the new 10-speed auto. 450HP, turbo torque, m andatory AWD. Sport bod y package, but not too extreme. It could be $70-$80k and I think they’d sell like crazy.

Get one of these with 4wd. Now, I would say go 5.0 V8 because it’s an awesome engine. But if it has to be a turbo V6, get the 2.7 V6. You can make over 35 0whp with a 93 octane tune and the truck is surprisingly light in rcsb configuration.

They would be a massive sales flop. The SVT Lightning sales vs Raptor sales clear this idea up. Americans don’t buy low.

Don’t lower it, just make a sport street truck. Doesn’t need to be an offroad desert runner like the Raptor. Keep primary  truck utility with tow package, hitch, bed, 4wd, basically a mini-muscle truck. Half-tons are too big.

I didn’t know that was a thing. But I’d prefer a midsize truck, and extended cab instead of regular cab or quad cab. The half ton RC do look good though, and no doubt you could make one pretty quick. Just not the same as a factory tuner like the Syclone or Lightning.

A new Ranger with a 3.5EB from the Lincoln would make a nice Syclone successor.... Syclones were so awesome because they could honestly surprise basically anything else on the planet at the time - it’s just so much harder to do that now.

If it’s not higher than the normal version, no one wants it. Ford tried something similar with the Tremor.

That’s basically what I did. RCSB, 2WD, 2.7tt, and th e all but impossible to find short gears in the back. Coming from my 93 LT1/6speed Vette, I gave up only a few 10ths 0-60 (related to traction off the line), and it is considerably faster in a 40-80 roll on. Acceleration is traction limited below 60mph even stock. I’ve felt zero desire to tune it, in part because it wouldn’t be able to put the power down and still run a wheel/tire set up would do all the truck things. It is my tow vehicle after all.

Get an F-150 with the 5.0 and supercharge it- they’re fast, especially if you get one with AWD.

Are midsize trucks even a thing anymore?
